“Sexy” comes from a person’s confidence in themselves and their body (regardless of size and shape)

Okay ladies … let’s talk “sexy”.

Marketing agencies, advertisers, and the media have done an incredible job of determining what men and women should think “sexy” means.  If you flip through the pages of this months Vogue or Glamour magazine, you’ll see page after page of long-limbed women in beautifully tailored clothing with pouty lips, perfect hair, and flawless skin.  Most times these women are on the arm of a gorgeous male specimen, wearing hundreds of thousands of dollars in gold and diamonds and on a yacht or luxury vehicle.  To be honest … is this even realistic?

This expectation by media doesn’t represent the majority of women out there and sadly makes the idea of “sexy” practically unattainable.  In the end, women trying to be “sexy” like the images and lifestyles portrayed in the magazines ends up feeling less confident and less sexy trying to be something they’re just not. Shouldn’t everyone have the chance and opportunity to feel “sexy”?

This then poses the question:

What is the REAL “sexy” for the 95 percent of women who aren’t in the pages of these magazines or on the Victoria Secret runways?

Sexy is a State of Mind

Think about it … if advertisers were depicting the truth, the only women in relationships would be supermodels and famous actresses and the rest of us would be spending our evenings watching late night television and cozying up to a pint of Haagen Dazs on the couch.  In reality, women of all shapes and sizes have the potential to be sexy with one ingredient … CONFIDENCE!

Confidence (being completely comfortable in your own skin and radiating positive energy) has very little to do with a person’s physical features … it weighs heavily on a person’s ability to truly love and accept who they are (inside and out).  One “tried and true” way to build confidence and a positive sense of “self”, is through fitness and exercise. Exercise can help us:

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Combat health conditions and diseases
  • Improve our mood
  • Boost energy levels
  • Enjoy better sleep
  • Improve sexual performance (yes … it’s true!)

Each item on this list naturally makes us feel better about ourselves, and can be as simple as getting 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week.  There’s no need to fit into a size zero or look perfect in your little black dress.  Take control and see how exercise can make you feel:

  • Stronger
  • Healthier
  • More capable
  • More energetic
  • Better in your own skin!

When you feel better about yourself, you naturally look and feel “sexier”.  So, what are you waiting for?  Put down the magazine, put on your gym shoes, and get moving!!

STRONG (and fit) IS THE NEW SEXY!
